A Couple Shoot in the Big Smoke!

A (PRE-WEDDING) COUPLE SHOOT IN THE BIG SMOKE

STEVEN & AMIE

Those who know me and my style will know that I am completely in love with Norfolk and the many woodlands, beaches, parks and gardens that the beautiful county has to offer! When myself and Amie began talking about her and Steven’s Norfolk wedding she explained that they both live in Shoreditch and that they would love to have a pre-wedding/ couple shoot in the big smoke so that they can have a variety of contrasting images of them both. Initially, I was feeling EXTREMELY out of my comfort zone and when I boarded the train I was slightly on the apprehensive side as I had no idea what to expect!

I stepped out of the station to a rainy street and was greeted by a huge hug by Steven who had walked from their flat to meet me to help me navigate to the café. I could tell by our email conversations how lovely Amie was and she too dished out the biggest hug – I felt as though I had known these two for years! Needless to say that the nerves soon faded and after a much-needed cup of tea and breakfast we then headed out to scout out some locations for photos! I could not believe how many cool, funky and all-in-all photogenic backdrops we came across! We began the shoot by using graffitied walls for a pop of colour, graphic shapes and striking patterns with the first design matching the blue of Amie’s turtleneck jumper (I was winning at life!) Not only did we manage to find graffitied walls, Steven and Amie showed me around their hometown and we shot on a rooftop, bar, by a beautiful mosaic wall, traditional London terrace houses for a classic Love Actually look and then we found a very unusual but insane backdrop that consisted of multiple coloured ribbons that had been entwined together for a random triangualr pattern! Scroll down to see some of my favourites from this super fun pre-wedding couple shoot!

I would love to know what you think about my slight change in style for this shoot! I had to go with the flow as there were definitely no fields, mud nor trees! I am super pleased with the result and actually loved the challenge of trying to stay true to my usual shooting technique with very unusual surroundings. Steven and Amie are so in love which did help massively as they are and were utterly besotted with one another which made my job so, so easy! Such a perfect couple and their plans for their wedding day next year make me want to jump up and down with excitement! I travelled up to London with a look of anguish on my face and travelled home beaming! If you and your partner or fiance are looking for a wedding photographer or simply to have some natural couple shots taken pop me a message and we can arrange a super fun shoot like the one featured on this page!

A Batemans Barn Wedding – Norfolk Wedding Photographer

A BATEMANS BARN WEDDING

M A T T   &   C H R I S T I N E

Christine and Matt’s wedding was my very first Batemans Barn wedding, and I was so excited to be shooting at such a characteristic venue! It’s not very often Wedding venues are 10 minutes from my house and is also a working farm!

If I said that this bright, bold and vibrant Norfolk Wedding featured a Braai, Boab Tree and Marimba Band what Country springs to your mind? This gorgeous Summer’s June wedding took place at the idyllic Batemans Barn in Harleston – an impressive restored medieval barn, farm and farm house only half an hour from Norwich. So… if you haven’t guessed already, Christine is South African which meant lots and lots of family and friends flew from South Africa over to little ol’ Norfolk for a super fun and relaxed South African themed wedding day!

The owners (Nicole and her husband) behind this stunning, historic Norfolk wedding venue, were at hand with everything and accompanied by Nev and Christine’s amazing creative styling and the florist’s colourful flower garlands and arrangements, Bateman’s Barn became a vision of bold pinks, oranges and golds! There were so many unique and quirky little details that made the day so memorable and full of ambiance!

A Farm Wedding – Norfolk Wedding Photographer

A   S U F F O L K   F A R M   W E D D I N G

M A X  &  C L A I R E

This stunning D.I.Y. Farm Wedding is probably one of the most anticipated outdoor weddings of the year and sums up exactly why I am an outdoor wedding photographer! Claire is a mutual horsey friend and I’ve known her for a few years now through mutual friends and competitions. I think I did a little dance after we met in Toft Monks over a drink in the Summer of 2016 to chat about their wedding plans! Max and Claire’s plan was to have the most relaxed, party vibe of a wedding that they could possibly have – farm reception, horses, tipis, fairy lights, reggae band and lots and lots of fun loving people! I knew this Suffolk Farm Wedding was going to be a blast and despite the very long day, I ended having my camera taken off of me so I could (awkwardly) join in with the dancing (I can’t dance…) It was so lovely to see old friends and everyone genuinely having the BEST day!

If you are debating on whether to plan a outdoor/ farm/ tipi/ festival styled wedding I am 100% sure that the photos featured in this blog post from Max and Claire’s big day will somewhat persuade you! The best June Summer’s day with amazing people and two of the best matched people in the world. I don’t think I stopped smiling all day!

Claire and her girls got ready at the beautifully rustic Fritton House Hotel in Suffolk, the ceremony took place at one of the most open and lightest churches I have ever photographed at and the reception took place in Blundeston at Claire’s family’s farm! Lots of locations = lots of different photos! I hope I have captured the story of the day as it unravelled and that you can gain a tiny insight into just how much fun myself and everyone had that day! More weddings like this please! #farmwedding #galleywedding #suffolkwedding

When I got told to sit down by the vicar and to stop taking photos… There will be a blog post about rude vicars and how to handle them and how to emphasise to them just how important your wedding photos mean to you and your fiancé! It is your day and sometimes you have to lay down some ground rules! Obviously as a photographer I 100% respect their part to play in your day but I your wedding photos should not come second!
